Newman joins Equipment World magazine team TUSCALOOSA, ALA. (December 10, 2007) – In a move to ramp up their electronic media footprint in the construction industry, Equipment World magazine has hired Tuscaloosa native, Michael Newman, to fill the newly created position of electronic media manager. “This is an eye toward the future,” said Equipment World Publisher Gregg Terry. “America’s heavy construction contractors still get the majority of their industry information from print media but we feel it’s our responsibility to take a leadership role in helping them embrace electronic media, as well. The addition of this position, coupled with Michael’s talent and abilities, allows us to maintain the leadership position we’ve enjoyed for the past several years,” he added. Newman’s career has focused on selling and maintaining web based programs and working with clients to develop cost effective user-friendly online opportunities. He was the lead instructor at the University of Alabama in Instructional Technology programs and helped to develop new class curriculum for undergraduate and graduate students. He holds both BS and MA degrees from the University of Alabama and has completed his coursework for a PhD in Instructional Technology. Newman is a U.S. Navy veteran and was assigned to SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team One and served on several naval vessels. He lives in Tuscaloosa with his wife, Susan, and their sons, Calloway and Butler.
