The number of truck mechanics/technicians employed by for-hire trucking companies alone will grow by about 13 percent between 2006 and 2016, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. And competition for their skills will remain fierce: BLS projects that diesel technician employment by automotive repair and maintenance businesses will grow at twice that rate – 26.7 percent – through 2016.
Why such growth? Freight tonnage – and the number of trucks needed to move it – is expected to increase significantly over the next 10 years. At the same time, equipment technologies are ever changing and becoming increasingly complex. More – and more complex – equipment and heightened demand for specialists to work on it means there’s never been a better time for a publication targeting the informational needs of technicians.
Professional Technician recognizes the critical role these experts play in the success of your equipment-intensive industry. Published quarterly, Professional Technician will offer essential information to help readers hone their skills and grow professionally. Each issue will include: |
